Why would my valves be leaking oil?
I have a 2001 olds Alero 2.4 twin. Front wheel drive ( if that matters).
My mother in law purchased it from an auction with major front end damage from a front end collision. I now own it. It stopped running on me this weekend and I thought it was out of gas but after putting in 2 gallons that was not the problem. A neighbor of mine took a look at it because he works for a BMW dealer doing service work. I am not fluent in mechanical lingo but I have a cover bolted on top of my valves and he took it off and when he did the bolts were pretty greased up with engine oil. After removing the cover the valve canyon ( i don;t know what else to call it) had a pretty steady cover of oil all over it.It wasn’t black oil it was actually quite clean I guess is the way to say it. My neighbor said there was oil in the spark plugs too. I just want to know with the valves leaking is it my driving that did it or could it be because of the front end impact. I have already had to repair the rack and pinion because the collision just wondering if this is possible too.
okay heres is the whole story. I assumed i had ran out of gas, filled it up with five bucks gas and it doesn’t start. My neighbor couldn’t hear the fuel pump come on when I just turned to car to "on". I did try and try and try to start the car over and over again just cranking and getting nowhere. My dad said that the oil pump would be working and pumping oil through the Valves and plugs but would have nowhere to go because the fuel pump was not kicking on to turn the engine over. So there would be oil under the valve cover. So I assume it is just the fuel pump now? Could that be? Or does that sound right?
regina your car doesn’t sound like it is old enough to have leaky valves could it be possible you have a leaky valve cover and it spilled onto the spark plugs you may want to ask…..the collision would not have caused the leak …….there is a rubber seal inside the valve spring that keeps the oil from leaking down into the cylinder it is shaped like a up-sidedown cup it sits over the valve shaft inside the valve spring i hope this info has helped please copy it you will be better armed at the repair shop
How do the valves on a radiator work?
I have new central heating. What do I with the Valves on each radiator? Should I set them to maximum and let the thermostat do the controlling? What happens if I turn down the heat setting on a radiator? will it affect the heat of the radiators down stream? If I switch one off completely does it block the pipes? Please explain…
They are mechanical and if you imagine the whole Central heating system not being like a series electrical circuit, but more like a Parallel one, well that’s pretty close.
What’s a split air solenoid valve?
Scanned my 1990 Mazda RX-7 (Non-turbo) for codes. The code was for my split air Solenoid Valve. What is that, and does it effect my mpg any?
Yes if this component malfunctions it will increase fuel consumption.

Oil to valves Problem ,Toyota 85?
engine oil is not getting to Valves in No. 1. Whats going onnnn??? Oil press is 50kpa @idle. Am using GTX oil , Can anyone suggest anything???? Thanks soooo much
dirt or a restriction in the oil passage to that area of the head…if u can disassemble blow air into passage or try some rislone in the engine oil to see if u can dissolve the plugged area
Which of the Two shut-down valves should i close to regulate my Central Heating Radiator please?
Looking at the radiator there are two shut down coks at the bottom end of each Radiator .They may be called Radiator valves —- In order to balance them through out the house i wish to turn the heat down on a few of them . Which of the two valves facing me should be turned down ? Either seems to do the same thing and I am puzzled ? Can any one throw some light on this please? Thanking you in anticipation.
of the two radiator Valves, one of them you should be able to turn manually by hand, the other valve is called the lockshield valve, which tyou control by pulling the plastic cap off, then with apair of pliers, grip the little brass top of the valve and turn clockwise till it stops, valve closed, this action will close the radiator off, open anti clockwise and regulate the flow of water till you reach the desired temp, replace cap job done.people will still be able to turn off the other valve, but you will know when as the radiator will go cold. hope this helps, good luck.
The Perfect Complement to an Enzo Ferrari
There have been a lot of street legal cars with a potential to be a winning race car and the Enzo Ferrari is on of them. But owners of Enzos know well on how to protect their investment. That is why you could almost never see a Ferrari on race tracks.
For those who want a street legal racecar, then the newest sports car/racecar to hit the U.S. will in no time be their vehicle of choice. Premiering in Sebring, Florida this week, the Deronda promises to be one of the fastest street legal cars in the market.
The British car will be manufactured and sold in the U.S. by Autosport Development which is based in Trenton, Michigan. The Deronda is a two-seater vehicle which is designed to look and perform like Formula One cars.
Autosport Development will be producing a limited number of these rockets in Trenton. The Deronda will be present in Sebring, although not to race them but to only make the heads of the crowd turn towards the direction of the vehicle. It is designed in the UK and as the President of Autosport Development David Moxlow says: âThe Deronda is basically a road ready two-seater formula car. You can drive it to the track, race it to your heartâs content, and then drive it home and park it in the garage.â
While the Deronda comes with a hefty price tag, Chris Trapp, the head of production for Autosport pointed out its pluses: âAt $70,000, the Deronda Sports Car is not exactly in the toy category, even for rich people. But the car is solid, low maintenance, and built from available componentry, so we think it will attract a whole range of enthusiastic customers who can only dream about owning the Ferrari.â
The Deronda is truly a sports car with the ability to burn rubber on speed tracks. Its powertrain is designed by Audi Cosworth Technology. It is equipped with a 1.8 liter turbocharged engine with five Valves per cylinder. Its gearbox also comes from a renowned car maker. The engine is mated to a Porsche five-speed manual transaxle gearbox. The absence of fenders shows how much the design of the car is based on Formula One cars. Not only has the absence of fenders pointed out to the Formula One heritage of the car though.
Aside from that, the Deronda is equipped with double side-impact protection bars, a steel tube chassis, longitudinally-braced double rollover hoops, and front and rear crash bar structures. All of those safety design features comes straight out of a Formula One racing car.
The aerodynamic design and the precision engineered engine and transmission gives the Deronda great acceleration and to speed. The car can go rocket to 60 miles per hour from a standstill in just under four seconds. This figure makes the Deronda one of the fastest sports cars in the world.

how do the valves get oil in a 22re?
i know # 1&2 from the timing chain but what about 3&4?
cylinders 1,2&3 are getting tons of oil from the wash from the timing chain.
where does the oil come out of the head to lube the valve train?
The oil pump pushes oil up into the head to lubricate the valves by means of oil a passages. The timing chain does not lubricate the Valves.
How much should it cost to replace the valves and the timing belt on a 2002 hyundai accent?
The timing belt broke and caused the valves to get bent. I do not know what other damage was done but I do know some of the Valves got bent. How much should I expect to spend for the entire job.
if the valves are bent you are possibly looking at a complete motor replacement. bent valves usually means damaged cylinders as well. If your lucky enough to have just the valves damaged and not the whole motor wrecked its definitely not going to be cheap. probably around 1000$
The Melodic Sounds of the Trumpet
The trumpet is an instrument that is a member of the brass family, though it has also been referred to as a wind or an aerophone instrument, and has the highest register among all the brass instruments. The trumpet is made out of brass tubing that is narrowest at the mouthpiece and widest at the end.
This particular instrument, like other brass instruments is played by blowing into the mouthpiece through closed lips to create a vibration. The instrument as three keys or piston Valves that work to alter the sound produced, often creating a lower pitch. Each valve will lower the sound the trumpet makes as it is pressed down by the musician. There are also different kinds of trumpets that are tuned to different notes. The most common trumpet played is known as the B-flat trumpet. Other types of trumpets that are played but are not as common are the C, D, E, F, G, and A.
Surprisingly enough, the trumpet has been around for a very long time, even if the earlier trumpets did not look like the trumpets people are more familiar with today. The earliest proof of the existence of trumpets goes back as far as 1500 BC, though it is believed that trumpets could have easily existed before this as well.
Another interesting note about the trumpet is that it was not originally used for music. Instead, it was used for signaling purposes for religious ceremonies or military use. It really was not until medieval times that the trumpet started to be used more as a musical instrument instead of being limited to previous purposes. In fact, it was even seen as a special talent, which those who played would keep to themselves because it was regarded as a guarded craft. It was after this time that the trumpet really started to change, as improvements and adaptations were made to have the trumpet keep up with its demands. Even with these improvements, the addition of the valves on the trumpet did not occur until the early to mid 1800s.
It appears that few young people will take up the instrument instead of popular instruments like the guitar and the piano. A common misconception is that it is really simple to play, but the truth is that it can be a little complex. One has to have good control of the air that they blow into the trumpet in order to get the right sound. Some will take an interest in the trumpet because they appreciate its bold and bright sound. It is common in marching bands, in the military and is also common in schools.
It is a relatively inexpensive instrument to play in comparison to others, so school bands will sometimes be able to teach students who want to learn it. Its drawback for many people is that it does not have a wide range of sounds and many who want to learn how to play an instrument are looking for something that can create a variety of different sounds.
