how do I oil the valves on my french horn?
i have no idea how
NO NO NO, Don’t take the valve out to oil! There are 2 "normal" ways. Take the valve slide out.. those tubes the valve feeds into… and just drop some oil down into the valve, then take the valve cap off and put a drop on that little moving part you can see sticking up, then put a little oil on the underside of the valve right where it comes out of the horn, there is a crack there.
The second way is to pull the slide put some oil into the slide, put it back on and let the oil run down to the valve.
my brother plays the baritone so i pretty much have a really good idea how.
first you take some valve oil (they make ones especially for french horn)
then you take the valve out.
put follow the directions on the oil container. (which will say to squirt the oil in the hole on the valve, sfter you take it out)
hope this helps!
good luck
